WYFRS Presents £10,000 Cheque to The Fire Fighters Charity
In a proud moment for West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service (WYFRS), Chief Fire Officer John Roberts, alongside Stuart Wilson, a Fire Fighters Charity Company Member, and Richard Izzard, WYFRS Fire Fighters Charity Service Co-ordinator, presented a £10,000 cheque to Sherine Wheeler, the newly appointed CEO of The Fire Fighters Charity. The funds were raised through a successful prize draw, reflecting the dedication and support from the WYFRS fire family for the charity that serves the fire and rescue community across the UK.
The Fire Fighters Charity is a vital organisation that provides much-needed support to serving and retired members of the fire services community, including their families. Established in 1943, the charity offers a range of services designed to enhance the physical, mental, and social well-being of firefighters and their families. This includes rehabilitation for physical injuries, mental health support, and welfare services to ensure that those who dedicate their lives to public safety receive the care they need, both during and after their service.
The £10,000 cheque presented by WYFRS is a testament to the strong bond between the fire service and the charity, and as we celebrate our 50th anniversary, this donation highlights the service's commitment to supporting not just the community we serve, but also our own colleagues and fire family.
The presentation was also an opportunity to welcome Sherine Wheeler as the new CEO of The Fire Fighters Charity to West Yorkshire. Sherine brings a wealth of experience to the role and is set to lead the charity into its next chapter, focusing on expanding its services and reaching even more members of the fire services community.
The money raised will help The Fire Fighters Charity continue its mission of providing life-changing support to the people who dedicate their lives to protecting others.
