Leeds crews surprise three-year-old fan on Steph's Packed Lunch

Tommy, who loves the fire service, called 999 to save his mum

Leeds crew surprise Tommy on Steph's Packed Lunch

A three-year-old boy who called emergency services after his mother was injured, was given a surprise tour of a fire engine today, on Channel 4's ‘Steph's Packed Lunch’.

Tommy – who is a huge fan of Fireman Sam – was shown around the engine by Leeds crews after the story appeared on TV to highlight the importance of children understanding what to do in an emergency.

Tommy's mum Kayleigh Boffey said she was "more than proud" of son Tommy after she fell down stairs at their home. She said he had learnt to dial 999 from YouTube cartoons.

"I just feel so lucky and blessed I've got a little boy who listened to the advice on 999," she said.

Police call handlers spoke to the boy and were able to trace the call.

Officers and an ambulance arrived to help in 10 minutes.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Services delivers a wide range of educational programmes around West Yorkshire to advise children and young people about fire risk and the importance of knowing when and how to alert the emergency services.
