Peter joined WYFRS as a firefighter at Sowerby Bridge, serving operationally for 31 years, before moving to Driver Training, helping hundreds of firefighters get to grips with fire appliances and other fire vehicles and equipment.
Peter said "I've thoroughly enjoyed all my years here at WYFRS - it really is one of the best jobs in the world. I've seen big changes to the service over the years, from improvements to personal protection to the fire engines themselves.
"When I look back to my years working as a firefighter I've so many stories to tell - I remember the summer drought in 1976 was such a busy time - we never stopped, it was crazy.
"The best part of my time here has been the people, my colleagues have been great. I'm looking to retire next year, and hopefully spend more time travelling, and with my family."
Chief Fire Officer John Roberts said "To dedicate his whole career to helping so many people is remarkable, so a huge well done to Peter for all his hard work. It's a rare achievement for anyone to stay with any fire service for so long in the UK as a whole so it's a pleasure to recognise his achievement today."
