Back of Wakefield Fire Station

The station has a station commander and 28 operational firefighters working a 42 hour week on a shift system. The station is very active in partnership working to reduce risk and improve safety for the Wakefield public and is the headquarters for the successful Youth Intervention Team. The station is also supported by a clerk that works part time to assist in the work we provide to the community.

Construction of a new fire station was completed in February 2021 to replace the old fire station which was built in 1963. The project involved the demolition of the old building and replaced by a smaller fit for purpose and more energy efficient building with much lower running cost. The new station has two bays adjoining the welfare accommodation which includes a kitchen/dining space, office spaces and a gym area.
